Can Carpet Shampooing Remove Germs & Bacteria?

Cleaning carpets of dirt and stains is an integral part of carpet care because the filth that makes up everyday soils can seriously deteriorate the appearance, feel, and life. The process by which soil is removed from carpets is called shampooing or steam cleaning. Chemicals are not used in either process; instead, they employ a deep-cleaning method to remove soils.

What is the aim of shampooing

Can Carpet Shampooing Remove Germs & Bacteria?

The goal of shampooing is to restore the carpet to its original condition and prevent the soil from becoming embedded in the pile or adhesive holding it in place. A properly cleaned carpet will appear new again instead of old and worn. In addition, carpets can be restored to their color before any staining occurs.

Methods of shampooing

There are two methods by which carpet is shampooed: hot-water extraction and steam cleaning. The carpet must first be hoisted off the floor in both cases as the water extractor equipment is heavy and requires a clear working area.

Hot Water Extraction

In hot-water extraction, the cleaning solution is injected into the carpet pile by a machine with rotating brushes. The water is then sucked back out along with any dirt that was dislodged from the carpet. This process must be repeated several times until all of the soil has been removed

Steam Extraction

Steam-extraction systems are more environmentally friendly but also more expensive than hot-water extraction. In steam cleaning, the dirt is cleaned out of the pile by applying superheated water that cleans deep into the fibers without damaging them as detergents can.

The system then applies extremely high heat through a pressurized chamber to kill bacteria, bedbugs, and other pests; this process must be repeated several times until all of the soil has been removed.

After shampooing, the carpet must be rinsed with clean water to remove any traces of dirt or soap. It is then rolled up and subjected to a vacuum process where excess moisture is extracted before being laid back down on the floor.

Procedure of carpet shampooing

A carpet shampoo itself is pretty simple. A few steps are all it takes to get the job done.

The first step in carpet shampooing is to remove some furniture away from the area you will be working on and cover your work surface with plastic or newspaper. If possible, try to choose a day when there isn’t carpet traffic in the house. You’ll have better luck getting dirt out of the carpet if it’s free from foot traffic.

The shampooing process itself is also quite simple. All you need to do is spread a thick layer of shampoo over the carpet with an application device (in most cases, this will be attached to your shampoo machine) and let it sit for a short time. After this, you should scrub the carpet with a stiff brush that’s been attached to your shampoo machine.

When you’re finished, remove all of the soap from your carpet using a vacuum cleaner. When you’re vacuuming out the shampoo, make sure not to get it wet while doing so. You need to keep the shampoo in the carpet to work, so don’t just follow the shampoo around with your vacuum cleaner.

Can carpet shampooing remove germs and bacteria?

The short answer is yes; it can!

Do also note that carpet shampooing will remove germs and bacteria, but it will also weaken them over time.

Also, a good carpet cleaning company would do a germicidal treatment to kill any living organisms left on the carpet after a standard carpet shampooing process. And this would be done without the use of harmful chemicals.

So in answer to the question, carpet shampooing can remove germs and bacteria, but a good carpet cleaning company usually adds a germicidal treatment to their process. This, however, can cause more harm than good, so it’s recommended to do this last.

Carpet shampooing can also remove odors from a carpet, but in all honesty, if a carpet smells bad, then it’s time to replace it.

But yes, you can remove germs and bacteria’s from a carpet when done correctly.

Can Carpet Shampooing Remove Germs & Bacteria? – Conclusion

Can Carpet Shampooing Remove Germs & Bacteria?

In conclusion, can carpet shampooing remove germs and bacteria?], the answer is yes, but not effectively. Carpet shampooing by itself will remove some germs and bacteria’s from a carpet with time. However, it does not remove them all. A good carpet cleaning company that disinfects their carpets after shampooing is recommended.

Customers have the option of getting this done in addition to the shampooing process. Also, you need to know that when a carpet cleaning company does not use the right chemicals in their germs and bacteria disinfection, it can cause more harm than good in some instances.

So it’s recommended that you choose your carpet cleaner wisely, especially when choosing them based on cost alone might not be in your best interest. It is also advisable to do a little research on the company before hiring them.

All this will help you know what to expect, thus avoiding any unpleasant surprises and unexpected costs.

Because germs and bacteria are becoming more resistant to common chemical treatments, a carpet cleaning company has many options in disinfecting a home. Not only can it be done using a carpet shampooing process or a fogging process, but it can also involve a “heat treatment.”
